FTC CHAT CONTROL HELP

Can't access an FTC Chat Service, using Internet Explorer 6? Try this:

If you've having difficulty accessing the FTC Chat Network, the following corrective actions have helped users successfully replace the chat control program that may be causing the problem.

  1. In Internet Explorer, click "Tools" at the top of your browser and then click "Internet Options".
  2. In the "Internet Options" dialog box (see below), select the "General" tab, and then click on the following buttons and click "OK" or "Yes" when asked if
           you want to proceed:
  • "Delete Cookies..."
  • "Delete Files..."
  • "Clear History"

  1. On the "General" tab and in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click "Settings...".
  2. In the "Settings" window, click the button "View Objects" (see below).

  1. In the "Download Program Files" window, select, right-click and delete all files beginning with "FTCChat Control". When asked to confirm the deletion,
           click "Yes".

  1. Close this window, click "OK", and then "OK" again to save these settings.
  2. Using Internet Explorer, open your preferred FTC Chat page and join a Chat. This will trigger a download of the new Chat Control. When asked to
accept a security warning, click "Yes".

You should now be able to join the FTC Network Chat Room.
