FTC CHAT
CONTROL HELP
Can't access
an FTC Chat Service, using Internet Explorer 7? Try this:
If you've having difficulty accessing a room on the FTC Chat Service, the
following corrective actions have helped users successfully replace
the chat control program that may be causing the problem.

1. Select Control Panel from
your Start Menu and then click
"Internet Options".

2. On the "Internet Options"
dialog box (see above), click
on the Delete button (highlighted above).

3. You will see the Delete
Browsing History dialogue box. Here you will click on:
- "Delete Cookies..."
- "Delete Files..."
- "Clear History" (optional
- this will clear any record of the browsing history on your
computer)
After
deleting Cookies and Files, click Close, which will take you
back to the Internet Properties dialogue box:

4. On Internet Properties
dialog box, click the Programs tab (see above).

5. On the Programs tab click
Manage add-ons (see above).

6. On the Manage
Add-ons dialog box, you will see a scroll bar on the right side
of the page. Scroll down if necessary until you see the
"FTCChat Control" entry. Highlight FTCChat Control (see above) and then
click the Delete button under Delete ActiveX (see above).
It may take a moment for your system to fully delete the old
Chat Control, but you will see it disappear from the list of
Add-ons once it has been fully deleted.
7. Close this
window by clicking "OK", and then "OK" again to save
these settings.
8. Using Internet Explorer,
open your preferred FTC Chat page and join a Chat. This will
trigger a download of the new Chat Control. When asked to accept a security warning, click
"Yes".
You should now be able to
join any FTC Chat Service room.
